Holistic Approach
What do we mean by "Holistic"?
Simply put, a holistic approach to health addresses the whole animal or person and not just their symptoms. Holistic approaches dig for the root of a problem rather than taking a "band aid" approach of merely suppressing symptoms.
In the past hundred or more years there has been a trend away from natural health (whole food, exercise, pure air and water) and towards highly-processed and less nutritionally sound "fast" foods and the use of a more allopathic medical approach (pharmaceutical drugs like antibiotics & steroids, and surgery).
While westernized medicine has made tremendous strides towards curing some diseases and repairing us when we break, we are not necessarily healthier overall as a population and we are seeing an upward trend in diseases like allergies, arthritis, diabetes, and cancer in our pets, as well as ourselves.
That's why we at Pawprints of Richmond align with a growing number of health-conscious people who believe in a more holistic lifestyle and an integrated medical approach - blending the best of both schools of medical knowledge & practice.
We are in no way a substitute for veterinary or medical care! We believe that each of us needs to start taking more direct responsibility for our own health and that of the animals in our care. To that end, we offer our opinions and we encourage everyone to do their own research for alternatives to consider...
